Exercises To Calm Your Anxious Thoughts

Walk it out.

When you’re feeling anxious, do you get the urge to pace or find yourself feeling jittery or agitated? This is your body telling you it wants to move through anxiety, to work it out, to feel more regulated and calm.  

One simple way to get out of your head and to quiet the anxious thoughts is to head outside for a walk. Walking quietly and observing your surroundings through your senses is a kind of meditation. What do you hear, smell, and feel in the air?

A brief walk has the potential to help us reset by getting some distance from our anxious thoughts that take up too much space. Anxiety has a way of pulling us into the future, and walking can help us bring us back to the present moment.
