How to Take An Effective Mental Health Day
You deserve a day off.
What if we didn’t wait until we felt burned out to take a break? What if instead, we planned our mental health days in advance, preventing burn out from showing up at our door. Here is a practice to refill your cup, before it’s empty.
Sit down and reflect on a time when you felt grounded and at peace. What elements contributed to that moment? Now identify three of those elements that can be translated into your day off. For example, if being at the beach was part of the memory you chose, find a way to visit a body of water during your mental health day.
Stress, anxiety and depression, are all hard to manage when we’re overworked, exhausted and depleted. This is a call to take your rest seriously. Be intentional about what kinds of nourishment you need and build that into your self care routine.
